People who love style, long to stay at the LOUIS Hotel in the heart of Munich.
Munich at its best - at the Viktualienmarkt, the famous open-air gourmet market, the heartbeat of this metropolis is most noticeable. This is where the Bavarian "joie de vivre" meets the flair of city life. At this pulsating spot in the city is a hotel that has become a magnet for international fans of a modern lifestyle: the LOUIS.
In addition to its attractive location, this building attracts guests with its thorough and unique design - numerous details have been integrated so thoroughly that even experts must take a second look to appreciate the extent of their depth and beauty. With a modern fireplace in an inviting lobby, subtly designed to slow you in your pace, and numbers printed on designer lamps, fashioned after old gas lamps, guide you to your room. You will love not only the aesthetics, but the practical finesse of your stay in one of the 72 rooms. Small details such as the pull-out closets accessible from both sides styled like old travel chests, complementary W-Lan or the iPhone docking station make a difference.
In 2009, restaurateurs Rudi Kull and Albert Weinzierl opened one of the first design hotels in Munich at the Viktualienmarkt. Accompanied by the wonderful restaurant EMIKO, which brought the Japanese cuisine à la Tokyo to Munich and which lasted over the past 10 years. They are now saying goodbye to a famous hot spot, due to the changes in the gastro scene. Many countries now offer Asian street food, vegan bowls or halal burgers. The hotel owners Rudi Kull and Albert Weinzierl are now doing what they do best, they are following their instincts and creating something new for the following next 10 years! The EMIKO restaurant is now followed by The LOUIS Grillroom.
The Concept: Meat rarities. The hype concerning vegan cuisine has brought a new awareness of meat into Germany. It's all about regional noble meat and butcher prime cuts. At The LOUIS Grillroom, Kull & Weinzierl are committed to an avant-garde meat trend with a focus on rarities rather than well-known cuts. "In Germany we are moving towards a very high standard in terms of meat. There are very inspiring offers concerning this market," says Rudi Kull. “The LOUIS Grillroom offers our guests the possibility of enjoying very special and seldom meats. Seeing it from the culinary side, we go right down to the bottom." An Austrian trained meat sommelier accompanies the guests and explains the desire about origin, production and preparation. As a seasonal highlight, The LOUIS Grillroom also works together with meat finishers, which bring exclusive pieces in limited quantity to Munich.
By the way: Vegans or pescetarians also get their money's worth at The LOUIS Grillroom. A grilled steak from cauliflower is also offered.
The Inspiration: The world traveler. The restaurant manager of The LOUIS Grillroom, Nicole Harrer and her team see themselves as "scouts". They search, find and serve "rare cuts“, ennobled by talented “meat nerds" from Germany and around the world. “We find the small, ambitious farmer with a handful of cattle. Also we guarantee to find the tuner from Ireland, who works with special molds," says Nicole Harrer.
For Rudi Kull this also means remembering the original idea of the LOUIS Hotel.
"LOUIS is based on the story of King Ludwig, who is committed to travel and always on the search for the exotic and the new” he explains. "After having spent 10 wonderful years in Japan we are sending him – together with our guests - again on a trip around the world, to gain more and more culinary impressions."
The Drinks: The LOUIS Sparkling Bar. The bar is also about discovering new and extraordinary ideas: Sparkling wines from California, Moselle or Georgia served in an open bar. Chai infused rum or just “Grillroomstyle”, an old fashioned with Kobe beef enriched infusion - the guests should be able to experiment!
The Ambience: Classic Kull & Weinzierl. The interior and the furnishings are restrained, unobtrusive and thoughtful. Walls and tables are made of light natural materials such as oak wood. It all stands in contrast to the dark floor. The light concept creates an elegant mood. Large square lamps add an angular geometry to the entire restaurant space. As an opposite, splashes of warm eggplant tones, soft and round upholstered chairs and fabrics or horsehair wall decoration which gives the space a new look and feeling. Also, shutters draw the eye and separate the restaurant, lobby and bar area.
The highlight: The Sky is the Limit. At the same time as the restaurant, the exclusive "LOUIS Rooftop Private Dining” will be opened. Smaller events, team meetings or private meals can be booked here.
The view of the towers of the Marienkirche is unique, the extension to the terrace in the summer is a must see!
Comfort and the feeling of having come home - the LOUIS Hotel provides its guests with something that is more sensual than physical. This is where design meets the heart, and a distinguished lifestyle merges with an atmosphere of discovery.
