Thavorn Palm Beach Resort: A Tropical Escape for the Whole Family

Sometimes, the best first impressions are made before you have even checked in.

As we were arriving at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, a family was checking out, and I overheard the mother say, referring to her daughter, “She loves your hotel.” It was such a simple remark, but it immediately set the tone for our stay and gave me the impression that this was a resort where families genuinely feel at home.

And, having spent time exploring the property, I can certainly understand why!

The resort offers a wonderfully family-friendly environment, with plenty of opportunities for children and adults alike to enjoy their stay. From the dedicated kids’ corner to the ice cream shop (because let’s be honest, a sweet treat is never exclusively for the children 😉), there are thoughtful little touches that make the experience enjoyable for all ages. The main pool is particularly exciting for younger guests, boasting some rather impressive water slides that add an element of fun to the resort’s tropical setting.

For those looking to enjoy something a little more interactive, the resort also offers experiences such as cooking classes and cocktail-making classes, allowing guests to explore something beyond the usual poolside routine.

Breakfast was another highlight, with a generous selection catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. The buffet offered fresh fruits, cereals, salads, freshly baked breads and pastries, alongside an assortment of international dishes. Naturally, Thai cuisine was well represented, with curries and other local favourites available, while guests looking for a traditional English breakfast were equally well catered for. There was certainly no shortage of choice to start the day!

Our room was spacious enough for two, with a comfortable layout and a bathroom featuring a shower. Guests are also provided with a selection of vanity products and shower caps, adding a few practical conveniences to the stay.

One particularly lovely aspect of the resort is its location. Situated directly across the road from the beach, it offers easy access to the coastline, with the hotel thoughtfully providing beach bags and towels for guests to use.

However, what I found particularly noteworthy was the resort’s approach to sustainability.

I genuinely appreciate establishments that make an effort to encourage more environmentally conscious practices, and Thavorn Palm Beach Resort takes this a step further by actively incentivising guests to participate.

Each room features a door hanger explaining that guests who choose to forgo housekeeping for the day will receive THB 150 in resort credit, redeemable at participating establishments within the property.

And naturally, we made use of this little incentive. My sweet tooth was certainly appreciative! 😉

What I particularly love about this initiative is its simplicity. Rather than merely encouraging guests to be mindful of their environmental impact, the resort offers a tangible reward for making a more sustainable choice. It is a wonderful example of how small incentives can encourage behavioural change, making sustainability feel accessible, rewarding and genuinely worthwhile.

The resort’s connection to nature is equally special, with its gardens dating back to the property’s early development in 1986. The Thavornwongwongse family has continued to cultivate and maintain these grounds over the years, making the greenery an integral part of the resort’s identity.

It is perhaps unsurprising, then, that the property was recognised at the 2024 World Luxury Hotel Awards, receiving the title of Best Luxury Garden Resort in Asia. Having experienced the resort firsthand, I can certainly appreciate the recognition. The beautifully maintained tropical gardens, together with the resort’s commitment to its natural surroundings, create an atmosphere that feels distinctly different from a conventional beachfront property.

I particularly enjoyed discovering the resort’s beautiful secret garden, which offers a quieter space to appreciate the natural surroundings and provides a lovely contrast to the more lively pool areas.

Beyond this, the resort also features a small spa and gym, offering guests a few additional opportunities to unwind and recharge during their stay

Overall, Thavorn Palm Beach Resort is a wonderful choice for families and guests looking for a fun, tropical getaway with plenty of activities for all ages. With its family-friendly facilities, beautiful gardens, beach access and thoughtful sustainability initiatives, it offers something for both those seeking relaxation and those wanting a little adventure. A particularly lovely option for travellers who appreciate nature, family-friendly hospitality and a resort that encourages more conscious choices.
