Castel Hörtenberg. In the heart of Bolzano city. A historical heaven where luxury is to feel at home.
In an enchanted corner of Bolzano's historic center stands proudly an imposing Renaissance castle. Surrounded by four tall towers, at first glance Hörtenberg Castle appears as if it were out of time: an enchanting oasis of peace just a few minutes walk from the bustling city center.
In its large contemplative garden, the magnificent manor enjoys its newfound beauty and function. The first guest house built in the historic center of Bolzano within the walls of an ancient castle, it is an exclusive buen retiro that has nothing to envy of the best five-star hotels: the 21 suites spread over four floors exceed all expectations!
With mature trees, flowering shrubs, classicist sculptures, hidden nooks and crannies, and a stunning heated swimming pool, the garden is home to other elegant suites built within a newly designed pavilion with a modern, streamlined style, gracefully integrated into the architectural whole.
What more could you want? In an atmosphere of exclusive privacy, the castle offers a service personalized and genuine hospitality: the management is a discreet presence that welcomes with dedication while leaving maximum freedom of movement. In this oasis metro the guest is king, but he is above all an individual. The true luxury that Castel Hörtenberg can offer to international audiences is the generosity of space, the
extraordinary tranquility that permeates a building that has been accustomed for centuries to welcoming people from different cultures by offering them a temporary home.
Its mighty walls have much to tell. Subject to historical-artistic restrictions, for centuries they were the centerpiece of Bolzano's social and political life. After its purchase, the Podini family was able to gracefully approach its past by unearthing, stone by stone, the original character of the residence. Very early on, the castle's personality awakened a desire to learn more about its history, thus expressing the family's close ties to local culture.
From its new owners, the mansion asked for something very special: a new opportunity in keeping with its past and its exclusive origins.
The Podini brothers accepted the challenge: Hörtenberg Castle was to return to its former glory, welcome guests and visitors as it had done for centuries, and become a place where the brothers, connoisseurs of the world, would also choose to stay. Said and done. After the vision had taken shape, the entrepreneurial family entrusted the project to young Anna Podini, who, together with her father Alex, closely supervised every
phase of the work. With the enthusiasm of her young age and cosmopolitan nonchalance, flanked by the architects, Anna managed to bring the unmistakable character of Hörtenberg Castle to life by creating an extraordinary symbiosis of lived-in history, urban coolness, and traditional artistic craftsmanship.
But the real protagonist is and remains the castle: its high stucco ceilings, frescoes, bow-windows, countless windows and small windows, sumptuous staircase, and imposing generosity of the rooms, harmonize wonderfully with the elegant furnishings of linear and modern style. The burnished iron and fine woods respect the character of the mighty walls without slipping into clumsy historicizing. Spectacular suites: all different one from the other, each ready to tell its story.
Today Hörtenberg Castle is a modern place, full of life, where exclusive comfort, aesthetic sensitivity and excellent service meet. A place where there is no place for nostalgic sentimentality, but where the present is lived. In its most beautiful form.
