Its mighty walls have much to tell. Subject to historical-artistic restrictions, for centuries they were the centerpiece of Bolzano's social and political life. After its purchase, the Podini family was able to gracefully approach its past by unearthing, stone by stone, the original character of the residence. Very early on, the castle's personality awakened a desire to learn more about its history, thus expressing the family's close ties to local culture.

From its new owners, the mansion asked for something very special: a new opportunity in keeping with its past and its exclusive origins.
The Podini brothers accepted the challenge: Hörtenberg Castle was to return to its former glory, welcome guests and visitors as it had done for centuries, and become a place where the brothers, connoisseurs of the world, would also choose to stay. Said and done. After the vision had taken shape, the entrepreneurial family entrusted the project to young Anna Podini, who, together with her father Alex, closely supervised every
phase of the work. With the enthusiasm of her young age and cosmopolitan nonchalance, flanked by the architects, Anna managed to bring the unmistakable character of Hörtenberg Castle to life by creating an extraordinary symbiosis of lived-in history, urban coolness, and traditional artistic craftsmanship.

But the real protagonist is and remains the castle: its high stucco ceilings, frescoes, bow-windows, countless windows and small windows, sumptuous staircase, and imposing generosity of the rooms, harmonize wonderfully with the elegant furnishings of linear and modern style. The burnished iron and fine woods respect the character of the mighty walls without slipping into clumsy historicizing. Spectacular suites: all different one from the other, each ready to tell its story.
