Marufukuro

Located in a city known for its beautiful scenery and unique compelling cultureーKyoto, the former Nintendo headquarters has been revived as an 18-key hotel in 2022.
The hotel was named after the Marufuku Nintendo Co. the company’s name in the early
1900’s.
The original structure was built in the 1930s and while keeping the existing structure that
preserves the early period in Nintendo history, world renowned designer T adao Ando gave a
21st century twist to it. Now the building consists of three existing buildings and one annex,
featuring 10 different room types, with 3 suites room within, which have different
characteristics to each type. The biggest suite room is Marufukuro Suiteーone and the only
room on the fourth floor where guests could experience both annex and original building at
the same time.
The main concept of Marufukuro is an all-inclusive hotel. The internal part of the hotel is
exclusive only to in-house guests allowing them to have more privacy with 24 hours free
access to the lounges and bar inside the hotel. Not only an ordinary bar, while a lot of bars
have bartenders helping the guest to make their drinks, here in Marufukuro, guests could
experience being a bartender for their partner, family, or even other guests.
Various ranges of whiskies, scotchies, and gins are provided.
Since the building was the former Nintendo headquarters, sure thing a space dedicated for
the sake of Nintendo fans is present; displaying some game consoles from the olden days,
also books in English and Japanese about Nintendo, in-house guests have free access to
the Library which is just next to the bar.
This hotel is not just for game fans. We also brought the history of Western-style
architectural influences in the early Showa period.
