The Carlton Tower Jumeirah

London, United Kingdom (UK)

Where Iconic Heritage Meets Modern Sensibility

Located in the heart of fashionable Knightsbridge, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, a London institute since 1961 stands proudly over Sloane Street and Cadogan Gardens, offering visitors and guests alike a hotel experience like no other.

Inspired by the past but looking to the future, The Carlton Tower implemented an 18-month closure in 2021, when the hotel underwent the most extensive transformation in its history, at a cost of over £100 million, creating a space designed to delight and enchant the moment you step inside.

With 17 stories and overlooking the capitals skyline, The Carlton Tower offers 186 magnificent bedrooms and suites, a health club, and a spa - home to London’s largest naturally lit indoor swimming pool, a restaurant, and lounge as well as a ballroom and many function rooms available on request.

The Carlton Tower embraces a rich tapestry of history with the hotel’s story dating back to The Swinging Sixties, when London was the epicentre of fashion, music, culture, and design. Welcoming the likes of supermodel Twiggy and fashion icon Mary Quant, The Carlton Tower was a place to see and be seen. Famously known to be London’s first tower hotel, it changed the face of Knightsbridge forever, from traditional and stiff to glamorous and stylish.

Originally designed by Henry End, also responsible for the interiors of the Plaza Hotel in New York, the hotel has now been transformed by the esteemed interior and architecture design studio 1508 London. The design practice has drawn on the hotel’s glamorous heritage and location to create a modern classic with a timeless, refined interior and sense of grandeur. Respectful of the building’s original, clean modernist style, 1508 London has layered the eclectic mix of the architecture of the surrounding mansion block and homes, adding soft curved edges, pops of bright colour and organic inspired forms throughout. The hotel’s enviable position overlooking Cadogan Gardens, the private gardens designed in 1804, is further reflected throughout the hotel, reminding guests of their unique access to this covetable green space and tennis courts, normally only open to residents to enjoy.

The hotel’s destination restaurant ‘Al Mare’ offers a sophisticated, welcoming dining experience enhanced with all the charms of Italian cuisine. The restaurant allows a convivial, gastronomic experience, taking guests on a journey through Italy and features a theatre kitchen, private dining room and al fresco dining. The Al Mare Bar offers a Mediterranean-style menu of fresh, bright drinks, created by the bars talented team, and designed to pair with the modern Italian dishes. The menu features new techniques applied to familiar classics such as carbonation and lacto fermentation, with five time-honoured classics alongside a wide selection of the cornerstone of the Italian Dolce Vita, the Aperitivo.

The Carlton Tower is also home to The Chinoiserie, a beautifully designed stand-alone space located on the ground floor ahead of the lobby entrance. Here guests and visitors can unwind and relax whilst enjoying an all-day dining menu serving a selection of international favourites, dishes and drinks. Not to mention The Chinoiserie Tea Room, also located on the ground floor is a warm and inviting space with blazing fire and pastry chefs adding the final touches behind the pastry counter to create the ideal atmosphere for guests to enjoy Afternoon Tea.

The hotel’s famous health club ‘The Peak Fitness Club & Spa’ is set across three floors and was completely redesigned in the renovation. New treatment rooms have been created at the Talise Spa on the second floor and the swimming pool area revitalised. The Carlton Tower is proud to be home to London’s largest indoor swimming pool with natural daylight and its bright interior is complemented by views through its double height glass ceiling, lined with poolside cabanas for relaxation. Additionally, The Peak offers 70 studio classes weekly, and a gym featuring bespoke ‘Technogym’ equipment on the ninth floor, which overlooks The Peak’s light-filled club lounge with breath-taking panoramic views across the London. With its new design and features as well as a strictly limited membership, The Peak looks set to retake its position at the forefront of London’s luxury wellness world.
