Ytri Island Retreat

Far out where the open ocean stretches towards Greenland lies Ytri, meaning “the outer point”, a Relais & Châteaux retreat in the Træna Archipelago.

Set 60 kilometers off the Helgeland Coast in one of Norway’s oldest fishing villages, Ytri connects 9,000 years of coastal heritage with modern design by Vardehaugen Architects and Bonaparte Interiør.

As Norway’s most remote island retreat, its 38 rooms and suites frame shifting Arctic light, storms, and the midnight sun, providing warm shelter from the elements. Guests can experience Arctic wellness rituals, including sea-view saunas and cold-water plunges, yoga and sauna rituals and local gastronomy in restaurant Alma, sourced directly from the wild sea and Ytri's own garden.
