I recently had the pleasure of staying at Taskonaklar Hotel & Restaurant in the enchanting region of Cappadocia, and it was an experience that surpassed all my expectations.
Taskonaklar Hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the wonders of Cappadocia. It is situated close to major attractions such as the Göreme Open Air Museum and the Uchisar Castle. The hotel also offers hot air balloon rides, which provide a stunning aerial view of the surreal landscape.
The staff at Taskonaklar Hotel were incredibly warm and attentive. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine hospitality. The front office staff were considerate, accommodating, and always ready with helpful suggestions for making the most of my stay in Cappadocia.
The hotel’s unique architecture is a blend of traditional stone structures and modern amenities. The rooms are carved into the rock formations, providing an authentic cave experience without compromising on comfort.
I stayed in one of their Suites with a terrace, which was spacious and beautifully appointed with rustic stone walls, elegant furnishings, and thoughtful details that reflected the local heritage. The room featured a cozy fireplace, a luxurious double bed, and a private terrace with breathtaking views of the valley. The terrace was a lovely spot to unwind, offering a relaxing ambiance and spectacular views.
The hotel’s restaurant is a culinary gem. Breakfast on Moniq Restaurant’s terrace was a daily highlight, featuring a generous spread of pastries, fruits, cheeses, and traditional dishes. Dinner was equally impressive, with a menu that highlights the flavors of the region. Dining in a cave, enjoying dishes like meatballs and meze platters, was a culinary experience to cherish.
The hotel offers a range of amenities that cater to both relaxation and adventure. The cozy lounge areas, complete with fireplaces, are perfect for unwinding with a book or enjoying a glass of wine. For those seeking adventure, the hotel can arrange activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and guided tours of the region’s captivating sites. The outdoor terraces and gardens are perfect for unwinding and taking in the panoramic views.
Staying at Taskonaklar Hotel & Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The combination of luxurious accommodations, exceptional service, and the enchanting Cappadocian landscape made it a perfect retreat. Jaci’s Lodges is a family owned and run safari lodge located within Madikwe Game Reserve about a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg. The reserve is home to a variety of impressive wildlife including the Big 5.
The lodge is owned by Jan and Jaci van Heteren who, alongside their team, ensure an authentic experience with outstanding hospitality.
Jaci’s Lodges is an excellent choice for families, or couples, offering a variety of room types and facilities.
Jaci’s Lodges comprises of two separate lodges about a kilometer apart from each other. The safari lodge is ideal for families, and the tree lodge is adults-only. The property also has suites that can host up to 8 guests.
The staff made me feel right at home as soon as I arrived. The lodge has such a homely and cozy feel throughout and the staff were eager to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Upon arrival we were offered a refreshing towel and cold beverage, as well as a reusable water bottle to be used throughout our stay.
I stayed at Jaci’s Tree Lodge in one of their eight treehouse suites. The suite was spacious, uniquely decorated, and surrounded by the natural environment. The rooms don’t have keys, which makes the stay authentic and makes you feel immersed in nature. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and had electric blankets, which is perfect for the cold winter nights. The suite had a beautiful bathtub and double vanity, as well as a huge outdoor shower.
Each morning there were sounds of hyenas and hippos in the distance waking me up, so no need for an alarm. We got a wake-up call at 6:30am each morning for the 7am game drive and were served coffee and snacks before heading off on the morning drive.
The dining experience at Jaci’s Lodges was exceptional. Our meals were served in different areas each day, breakfast at the boma area, lunch at Tlou Deck and dinner at the cozy indoor dining venue. We had a full English breakfast each morning to fuel us for the activity filled days. My favourite lunch was at the Tlou Deck overlooking the watering hole, we had the most delicious pork tacos and a local wine to pair. There were elephants at the watering hole during our entire lunch and it was just the most relaxing setting. The dinner menus were creative, and the chef certainly exceeded my expectations.
The first night we had Impala Shank which was really something different and my first-time eating Impala. The second night I had the most delicious chicken roulade, and my partner had the lamb rack which he thoroughly enjoyed (as it’s his favourite dish!). This last dinner was also so special because the staff set up the Tlou Deck for us even though it’s winter, but they put mushroom heaters next to our table and gave us blankets and we just had the best dinner experience.
The Terrapin hide is the most impressive spot at the lodge. This unique, submerged hide is accessed via an underwater tunnel and provides you with the opportunity to observe wildlife up close, right at water level. This is the perfect place for photographers to capture once-in-a-lifetime shots. You can sit in the hide for hours watching the animals in their natural habitat. We saw a herd of elephants up close, as well as a crocodile swimming in the water near the hide. There were also giraffes, bucks, zebras and birds visiting the watering hole during the day.
The hide is in my opinion the highlight of the lodge and a truly memorable and immersive experience.
The swimming pool is a great place to relax and take a dip between activities. There is also the comfortable lounge area and bar which has a fireplace, perfect for winter days. The lodge also offers a small curio shop with beautiful local crafts and souvenirs.
There is a relaxing river walk between Jaci’s Safari Lodge and Jaci’s Tree Lodge and is a lovely activity for after breakfast. During my walk, I encountered monkeys and antelopes, as well as the most beautiful blue birds.
The lodge offered daily morning and afternoon game drives within the impressive Madikwe Game Reserve. We made sure to attend every game drive as there is always something new to see on each drive. Peter was our dedicated safari guide, and he is extremely knowledgeable on the reserve, and he loves astronomy. Peter has been in the industry for about 30 years so we were comfortable that he would make our drives memorable. He played educational games with us during sunset hour on the safari which was interactive and fun. I appreciated his enthusiasm.
During our game drives, we saw two male rhinos, wildebeest, elephants and giraffes. We also saw a herd of about a hundred buffalo at a watering hole which was impressive. On the second day we encountered three lions up close, it was an exhilarating feeling being so close to these wild animals.
On our last afternoon safari, we had an incredible sighting of three cheetah brothers. Our guide told us that it is rare to see cheetahs like we did on the open plains. There were also two rhinos nearby who tried chasing the cheetahs away, it was very entertaining to watch up close. It was the highlight of all our game drives, and truly a special sighting.
This unique destination offers an unparalleled blend of luxury, adventure, and authentic African charm.
Thank you to the staff for making my stay so special, thanks to Manny at the front office, Zandile and Kea in the dining areas, Russell the chef, and Peter our guide.

Nestled in the heart of Bali, in the jungle strewn Ubud, surrounded by striking green rice fields, lays a wonderous, lush and luxurious family-owned hotel, the Viceroy Bali.
The first thing you notice when walking into reception is the calmness. Everything about this place, the mannerism of the staff included, just whispers “time to unwind”.
Often when one thinks of their dream vacation, they think of island luxuries, beaches adorned with thatch roofs, perhaps a cabin on a snowy mountain or in a dark and far out forest. But the jungle, oh the mighty lungs of our earth, they breathe for you in Ubud! And suddenly, everything just seems a little easier.
When shown to our rooms, one word sprung to mind; “majestic” – ok, actually also “wow”! The Deluxe Terrace Villas we were accommodated in were not only like a room in a palace, but the backdrop of the jungle reaching down into the river gorge, behind your private pool, simply makes one gasp.
The rooms and bathrooms are lavishly large, and the high ceilings create a real feeling of spaciousness. The bed in and of itself speaks mounds for the feeling of royalty one has- I barely filled an eighth. The open plan bathroom is absolutely gorgeous, the tub being the highlight, located behind vanity curtains overlooking the splendid view of the jungle outside.
My day started each morning by having a glorious morning swim in my private infinity pool, followed with some yoga and meditation in my traditional outdoor balé seating area. Breakfast every day is served in the most beautiful setting. You take steppingstones over water to get into the CasCades restaurant and a Balinese fountain trickles softly in the background as you dine looking over the dramatic jungle backdrop.
Throughout the hotel and its grounds are statues, carvings and paintings that elegantly display that beautiful Balinese charm that everyone so desires when visiting this beautiful part of the world.
I was treated to a tour of the grounds with Surya, and got to meet the passionate gardener, Wayan, of the organic food garden that feeds the restaurants at Viceroy Bali. So much love is put into this garden. It not only serves the restaurants, but also provides a way for their team to develop their own farming skills which can be used at home and taught to their families.
On this tour, I was granted a visit to their renowned Elephant Villa – their signature one bedroom villa. Beautifully carved rockery outside leads you into a paradise of jungle views with the sound of the rumbling river below in the ravine.

I had a 60-minute Balinese massage at Akoya Spa. It was a truly luxurious and relaxing experience and definitely the right way to end my trip.
Although I will write more on this in a separate review for the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, the absolute highlight of my entire trip to Bali in fact, was dinner at Apéritif. Without doubt the most interesting and delightful culinary journey I have ever had the privilege of experiencing anywhere in the world, in my life. This comes out top of my list as a “must do” if ever you are in Ubud. The food was not made, it was designed, it was engineering, it was chemistry, it was art, it was magic. The entire experience was phenomenal, the staff being not only so knowledgeable about what they serve, but passionate. Every bite of that dinner was memorable. Chef Nic Vanderbeeken and his entire team have created a symphony for the senses, from design and décor to ambience and service.

The World Luxury Awards extends its grateful thanks to Amanda Syrowatka, General Manager, and her entire team for what was a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
Viceroy Bali… we parted too soon…
It is a place of peace, tranquility, and self-reflection. It is truly a heaven on earth.

A five-star luxury resort located on Sentosa Island, Singapore
The moment you walk into Sofitel Singapore Sentosa you feel instantly relaxed. It is a haven of tranquility and peace. The design, the décor, the ambience, it all represents luxury and opulence.
The staff are extremely welcoming and are happy to attend to your every need and desire.
The resort is located on the Southernmost tip of Sentosa island and has access to Tanjung Beach. The resort is perched on a cliff and is surrounded by lush greenery; a tropical ambience and the décor perfectly blends Singapore and France’s heritage.
The resort is the perfect place to relax and unwind, and it also offers many activities for those who want an active vacation.
Sentosa Island is home to the famous Universal Studios, as well as multiple scenic beaches and international restaurants. Sofitel Singapore Sentosa is the perfect place from which to explore the island. The beach and adjacent establishments can be easily accessed via the resort’s staircase, which also boasts a stunning view of the South China Sea.
They also offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from the Resort every half hour, which stops at the Harbourfront MRT station on the mainland, from which one can venture into the city.
The front desk staff made check-in a breeze, and also provided me with their shuttle schedule, weekly activities, and dining options. The Marketing manager showed me to my suite, which was in their tranquility wing. On the way to the suite, she explained some of the resort’s décor pieces and significant design touches. I really appreciated the warm and personalized welcome. The resort definitely had a Balinese feel to it, and the architecture was incredibly impressive.
I booked their Junior suite which had a comfortable king sized bed, a spacious lounge area, and beautiful décor. It is an open-concept suite with a lavish bathroom complimented by Balmain amenities.
The housekeeping staff go out of their way to make your stay special, and even left me a handwritten card on my bed.
The room was thoughtfully put together with clear French touches, making it feel very classy.
The bed linen was plush, and the sheets were smooth; I slept very well throughout my stay. Next to the bed, there are multiple different power sockets, which was very convenient.
A QR code is visible at the desk, which allows you access to their online platform including their room service menu. The entire resort also offers high speed Wi-Fi.
This was the perfect place to escape the city life and have a luxury staycation where I enjoyed both French and local influences.
As you wander around the resort, enjoy the refreshing breeze and views of the ocean and beyond. While walking around be sure to look out for the resort’s resident peacocks.
The recreational facilities at the resort make it the perfect place for a weekend getaway. This resort is suitable for leisure travellers, business travellers, and even those with pets!
The resort has a new herb garden which is very well maintained and is part of the resort’s sustainability efforts. The herbs and vegetables such as basil, tomatoes, and lemons, are used in the hotel kitchen. Sofitel Singapore Sentosa has multiple sustainability efforts, in line with the Singapore government’s green plan for 2030.
The resort gym is located in the middle of the property and is well equipped for any type of workout.
The SO/Spa was one of the highlights of my trip. The spa is luxurious and has multiple pools and spa facilities. The spa has a lap pool with sun loungers, and they have indoor hot and cold jacuzzis, as well as a Turkish steam room. If you are on a couple’s holiday, be sure to book their romantic package and have your treatments in their couple’s room which features a private jacuzzi bath.
Their pool is an instagram-worthy spot, with a waterfall feature and surrounding greenery. Their therapeutic body wrap experience is a must-try, where you lather on a special mud masque all over your body and leave it on for a few minutes, then enter the mud pool to soak it off, leaving your skin soft and smooth.
What’s better than a staycation? A staycation with your pets. Sofitel Singapore Sentosa is pet-friendly and has a special “FurKid” package for those who want to bring their pets. They even offer special dog food menus at the restaurant. I spotted a Pomeranian at breakfast, and it made my day.
The resort is also an ideal destination for MICE events, meetings, and weddings. They have a grand ballroom and multiple meeting rooms. It is a stunning location for weddings, with multiple outdoor and indoor venues and great photo spots!
The hotel’s main pool is the place to be during the day. They offer single lounge beds as well as comfortable double lounge beds. Relax around the pool whilst enjoying the sounds of the birds and palm trees around you.
A rare and surprising feature of the resort is their fish spa, located next to Le Bar. The pond is filled with “Dr. Fish”, a special fish breed that nibbles on your feet, getting rid of your dead skin. The kids completely love this feature, and it adds to the many reasons why this property is one-of-a-kind.
Le Bar, located in the heart of the resort, offers a daily 1-for-1 cocktail happy hour and is a great place to enjoy an afternoon or evening drink. The bar lights up at night and has lively music playing.
Kwee Zeen is the resort’s all day dining outlet and offers delectable local cuisine and international favourites. For dinner, I had the beef cheeseburger and French fries, which had to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I went to bed with a very full and satisfied stomach.
Start your day the right way with the buffet breakfast at Kwee Zeen, which features a made-to-order egg station, an Indian cuisine station, cold meats, and more. You can choose to sit inside with air conditioning or outside with the ocean breeze (and view). The breakfast offers multiple hot and cold dishes and a great selection of fresh pastries. The bread-and-butter pudding was so tasty.
Their other dining outlet is The Cliff, a restaurant with a delectable Italian menu. Pasta and Tiramisu, the perfect dinner combination.
I felt very cared for during my stay, the staff were attentive and their hospitality was of superior quality.
The Sofitel brand has French flair, and this resort lives up to the Sofitel name. It’s definitely an exceptional experience in Singapore.
The resort has multiple water features and fountains, which makes for a peaceful experience whilst wandering around the resort grounds.
On the one side of the fountains there is a lion statue, which resembles Singapore’s heritage, and on the other side there is a horse statue, which symbolizes French heritage. These special design details add to why the resort is so unique.
The resort staff were attentive, polite, and always had a smile on their faces. They also gave me great recommendations for shopping and nearby attractions.
I would consider Sofitel Sentosa a hidden gem in Singapore, and an absolute must-visit. It is the ultimate accommodation on Sentosa Island.
Thank you to all the staff at Sofitel Sentosa who made my stay out of this world. I look forward to visiting again.

On a recent trip to Australia, I stopped over in Sydney and had the absolute pleasure of spending a few nights at the Crown Towers, Sydney. Having travelled to every continent and stayed in numerous luxury hotels, I can honestly say that this is the most incredible hotel I have ever experienced.
I was booked into a Studio room with extensive, fabulous views of the harbor. To give an idea of just on how “state-of-the-art” everything was, the bathroom even had an electric toilet!
The breakfast was fit for royalty, a feast for the eyes, catering for all palates with every conceivable type of food.
My sister, who lives in Australia came to visit me at the hotel for the day, she was blown away by the magnificence of the hotel. We spent a few hours relaxing at the infinity pool with spectacular views of the harbour and Sydney skyline. My sister was very happy to be right in the pool on a perfectly situated comfortable pool bed.
Unfortunately I did not have time to use the spa myself, but my sister went for a treatment, after which she could not stop commenting on how wonderful it was and complimenting the therapist on how good they made her feel. I did take a look around the spa and was very impressed with the ambience, and the warm and welcoming staff that were keen to show us around.
I try to work out almost every day, so naturally I went to try out the gym which was fantastic and equally impressive to my room with all the latest equipment, as well as great views of the Sydney Harbour as a perfect distraction to a heavy workout – much needed after enjoying rather a few good meals on my trip.
Whilst there, being so impressed, I took a moment to read a few reviews of the hotel and one that stood out to me said, that if it was possible to achieve 6 stars, this hotel certainly deserves it, and I can wholeheartedly agree!
Thank you to the General Manager, Mr. Chris Kemlo, for his kind hospitality, the attention to detail is impeccable and I extend my appreciation to all the teams working in the hotel for the excellent service I experienced.

Located on Karon Beach, it is the perfect choice for families and couples.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who offered me their Ceylon tea welcome drink and a special banana leaf candy. The check in process was quick and all the staff members greeted me with big smiles, I instantly felt at home.
The hotel has a warm welcoming ambience, and all the areas are spotlessly clean. Karon Beach is just a 2-minute walk from the hotel as well as multiple shopping options and food markets. This prime location makes Avista Grande the top choice for a luxury stay in Karon. From the hotel, you can easily explore Kata Beach, the area’s nightlife, Big Buddha and the known surfing spots.
The receptionist showed me to my Deluxe Mountain View room and advised me about breakfast times and facilities etc. My room was modern and spacious and had a beautiful mountain view from the balcony. The King Size bed felt like a fluffy cloud and was so cozy. The bathroom was also spacious and had a double vanity with a big bathtub.
Breakfast at Portosino is a lavish affair. The perfect way to start your day. The buffet was extensive and had top quality food items from various cuisines. There was a juice station where the staff prepare your juice fresh as you wait. Around the corner was their pastries and breads, a must-try are the croissants. The chefs at the egg counter can prepare your eggs just the way you like it. I tried a few dishes from the Indian corner which was packed with so much flavour (and chilli). The breakfast buffet also featured a special dish known to Thailand, and it was a different dish each morning. The breakfast staff were attentive and helpful.
The pool was the highlight of the hotel, it had a beautiful waterfall feature, sunbeds positioned all around the pool area, and a swim-up bar. You could easily spend the whole day around the pool. They played music during the day which gave the pool area a fun and hip ambience. The lunch pool menu featured classics like a Caesar salad, and delicious pizzas. The swim-up bar “Lido” has a wide range of cocktails and drinks, as well as a daily happy hour which I certainly enjoyed. I would recommend the Pina Colada cocktail.
The property has a Sino-Portuguese design and there are multiple Instagram-worthy spots around the hotel. Adding on top-class hospitality and staff who go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. The hotel has multiple restaurants available for dinner: Portosino, which is their all-day dining outlet, The Dim Sum, which is their rooftop bar, and Sizzle On Water, which is a unique dine-on-water steakhouse restaurant where you can have dinner with your feet in the water. If you are on a couples holiday, then be sure to book a dinner at this romantic restaurant.
The hotel has an award-winning spa, I would recommend you have the Thai massage, it is a must-do when in Phuket.
I had an absolutely fantastic time here and would highly recommend. Thank you to the entire Avista team.

The Racha is located on Racha Yai island which is about a 30-minute speedboat ride from Chalong Pier in Phuket. The island has the most beautiful natural scenery and breathtaking sunsets, it is also a well-known spot for diving and snorkeling.
The meeting point is at The Racha Chalong Lounge at Chalong Pier which is about an hour’s drive from the Phuket International Airport. At the lounge, they offer Wi-Fi as well as complimentary snacks and drinks. It is advised to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled boat trip.
Upon arrival at the lounge, we were offered a choice of different scents for our room on the island.
We decided upon lemongrass as the staff explained that is repels mosquitos, as well as having a natural tropical smell.
Welcome Lounge
We took a shuttle bus from the lounge directly to the boat and the staff assisted with our luggage. The speedboat ride was a fun experience, and the weather was perfect.
Upon arriving at The Racha, you are welcomed by crystal blue water and powdery white sands.
We were escorted to the welcome area at the resort and offered a scented cold towel and a special purple drink. The front office staff assisted us to our room and explained the services and facilities on the way.
We checked into a Grand Deluxe Villa for three nights, and it was just what we needed. A comfortable bed, indoor and outdoor showers, bathtub, luxurious amenities, and a terrace with sea views.
We arrived at the resort around 2pm in the afternoon, so we headed to the pool for lunch and a dip.
The adults-only infinity pool is the heart of the resort, it has the best view of the island and is the perfect place for a day of relaxing and sun tanning.
There are complimentary water bottles available around the pool and you can order drinks and food during the day.
The beach is another option for relaxing and sunbathing, there are lounger chairs and hammocks on the grass in front of the resort and beach towels available. The palm trees all around the resort make it such a relaxing atmosphere. The weather was perfect and every day we swam in the ocean and the pools.
The resort has a very laid-back ambience and is a great option for couples and even families who just want to relax.
There are numerous activities available on the island, including complimentary watersports such as kayak and snorkeling. This island offers some of the best snorkeling and diving spots in Phuket. I would encourage everyone to try the water sports, the staff are knowledgeable and will assist with everything.
You can also explore the island by foot, there are a few beaches a short distance away from the main beach, which is more secluded. The reception will give you a map and are happy to help with directions.
They also offer chargeable activities such as island hopping, sunset cruises, ATV’s and guided hikes, which can all be booked via their mobile app. You can also ask any questions via the live chat on their app which is really convenient.
The resort also has a PADI certified diving center for those interested in learning to dive.
For those just wanting to relax, you can opt for a treatment at the Anumba Spa. The Spa also offers daily complimentary yoga sessions, which is also suitable for beginners. I would definitely recommend anyone to try yoga, the instructor is so friendly and its just a fun experience to try something new.
Sunsets at The Racha are magical. Six thirty until seven thirty at night is the best time of day for me. We made sure to book the best table at the restaurant which has a perfect view of the ocean and the sunset. Enjoy a fresh coconut or a cocktail as the sun sets.
The main restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside all three nights because of the stunning views. Just ensure you spray mosquito repellant when sitting outside at night.
The restaurant menu is extensive, they offer international favorites as well as Thai specialties. I suggest you try a Thai dish at least once, for example the Pineapple fried rice, such a flavorful dish. I also had the mango Crème Brûlée which was 10/10.
If you are on a romantic holiday, you can book the private dining area which is set up right in front of the resort with unobstructed views of the bay.
The breakfast buffet has a great variety including an egg station where the chefs prepare eggs benedict or omelettes for you. They also offered complimentary sparking wine at breakfast for those wanting to make a mimosa.
The resort also has a gelato shop which is open during the day and is the perfect place for an afternoon scoop to cool down. Next to the resort entrance, there are a few small local stores which sell all kinds of snacks, and even swimwear and accessories.
I had a wonderful holiday, there is so much to do on the island, but it also is just so relaxing to do nothing if you want.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and the whole team delivered beyond my expectation.
Overall, I had a fabulous time at The Racha, thank you to all the staff who made my stay memorable, I will be back in a heartbeat.

We chose to dine at the in-house restaurant, Straits Kitchen, which proved to be an experience we will never forget. The restaurant serves South East Asian food with dishes from Singapore. Our favourite was the variety of small plates, which included spring rolls, prawns and vegetables, to top it all off, we indulged in the Mandarin dessert which was absolutely delicious.

From the moment you arrive at Kata Rocks, it’s clear this isn’t just another beachfront resort—it’s a luxury experience designed for those who appreciate privacy, style, and breathtaking views.
Tucked into the hillside between Kata and Kata Noi beaches, Kata Rocks offers a perfect balance of seclusion and access. The villas are stunning—each with its own private infinity pool that overlooks the Andaman Sea. Watching the sunset from the pool, drink in hand, feels like a dream.
Our one-bedroom villa was impeccably designed—sleek, spacious, and filled with natural light. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors opened to reveal an expansive terrace and a private infinity pool with panoramic ocean views. The interiors struck a perfect balance between high-tech convenience and minimalist elegance, creating a tranquil and indulgent retreat. One of our favorite features was the automatic blinds, which opened at the push of a button to reveal the most breathtaking ocean views—a perfect way to start each morning.
We also appreciated the thoughtful practical touches, like the in-villa washing machine, provided laundry detergent, and clothes horse—super convenient for refreshing our swimwear and clothes during our stay.
When we arrived, we were greeted with the most thoughtful birthday surprises. A birthday “cake” made of towels, alongside a rich chocolate mousse dessert with edible rocks, and a handwritten birthday card. It was personal, charming, and instantly made us feel at home.
Another thoughtful touch was the resort-provided cell phone, which we kept with us during our stay. We used it to call for the buggy service, which transported us effortlessly from our villa to the main entrance near Kata Beach. The buggy was available any time of day and made getting around incredibly convenient. We also loved that the Kata area is so walkable—you can explore Kata Beach (gorgeous at sunset), local massage parlours, shops, and even a 7-Eleven, all just steps away.
Each morning began with a delicious à la carte breakfast. From tropical fruits and fresh juices to Thai-inspired dishes and perfectly brewed coffee, every detail was thoughtfully executed. The Tom Yam Eggs Benedict was a standout, packed with flavor and a unique Thai twist. I also enjoyed their house-made smoothies and the vanilla latte. One morning, when I wasn’t feeling well, a kind waitress noticed and offered to bring me some soothing ginger tea. Her gesture made all the difference.
The Restaurant impressed us throughout our stay. Breakfasts were relaxing and plentiful, and sunset cocktails by the water were a highlight of each day. For lunch one afternoon, we had the smoked salmon pizza and French fries—simple but delicious, and exactly what we wanted poolside.
The main pool is absolutely breathtaking, especially during golden hour. The loungers in the pool are unbelievably comfortable, perfect for enjoying a fresh coconut (or a cocktail!) while soaking up the views. Staff are always close by if you want to order something without ever leaving your lounger.
The spa was another highlight of our stay. Calm, sleek, and instantly soothing, the ambiance is perfect from the moment you walk in. My sister and I had an aromatherapy full-body massage in a couples’ room, and it was such a relaxing experience.
What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional staff. Warm, professional, and consistently attentive, the team at Kata Rocks made every moment feel special. Whether offering local recommendations, ensuring seamless dining experiences, or simply greeting us with genuine smiles, the service was consistently world-class. A special thank you to Katie at the front desk, who looked after us throughout our stay with such care and kindness.

Equally worth mentioning is the female security guard at the front entrance, who greeted me every morning with the warmest and most genuine smile. Her presence made me feel safe and at home. It’s small gestures like these that really make a hotel stay memorable.
My Deluxe Room was spacious, well-designed, and very comfortable. It had a calm, modern aesthetic, with floor-to-ceiling windows that brought in lots of natural light. The bed was plush and cozy, and the amenities were thoughtful and high quality. Housekeeping was prompt and meticulous, ensuring everything stayed spotless throughout my stay.
One of the standout features of the property is its excellent breakfast buffet. It easily ranks among the best I’ve experienced globally. The variety was incredible, from fresh tropical fruits and pastries to made-to-order eggs, Thai dishes, and Western favorites. The quality and freshness of everything on offer made breakfast a daily treat I looked forward to.
The property has an awarded barbeque restaurant, Rolling Ribs Brew Bar & BBQ, and the quality of the food was exceptional—especially the beef burger and chips. The burger was incredibly juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked.
The hotel has a luxury spa and fitness centre on the sixth floor, next to the swimming pool. The spa offers a tranquil retreat with a range of holistic treatments inspired by European luxury traditions, tailored for the modern traveler. Additionally, the Flow Onsen, featuring mineral-rich waters imported from Japan, is a serene space to unwind.
The gym is a 24-hour facility equipped with Matrix machines and offers panoramic city views through its floor-to-ceiling windows.
I also enjoyed some relaxing time by the swimming pool; it offered a tranquil escape amidst the urban energy. Surrounded by stylish loungers and thoughtful landscaping, it provided the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the city. It also has views of the iconic Mahanakhon.
In terms of location, Le Méridien Bangkok is ideally situated for both business and leisure travelers. It is central, vibrant, and close to everything. Whether you’re looking to shop, dine, or access public transport, everything is just a short walk away. Despite being in such a busy part of Bangkok, the hotel itself feels quiet and peaceful once you’re inside.
In every aspect—from personalized service to culinary excellence and refined aesthetics—Le Méridien Bangkok delivers a luxury experience rooted in comfort, culture, and care. I would gladly return and highly recommend this property to travelers seeking high-end accommodations with heart and soul in the heart of Bangkok.

I spent three nights at Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa in Phuket, and it was a truly relaxing experience.
The resort is tucked away on a private stretch of Nakalay Bay, located between Patong and Kamala, which makes it a convenient spot if you want a peaceful setting that’s still close to more lively areas. The surroundings are scenic, and the location worked well as a relaxing place to stay while having access to explore other parts of the island.
We stayed in one of the resort’s Beachfront Cottage Rooms, which offered a comfortable stay with beautiful ocean views.
The room was incredibly spacious, with high ceilings, charming Thai-style decor, and sliding doors that opened directly onto the beach. Stepping out onto the private terrace each morning, with the ocean just a few feet away, felt like a dream. The bed was comfortable, the air-conditioning worked flawlessly (which was necessary in the April heat), and the room was well-maintained throughout our stay. A special thank you to Gift, our housekeeper.
One of the standout features of Thavorn Beach Village is its lush, tropical landscaping. The resort boasts beautifully maintained gardens with Thai statues, koi ponds, and plenty of spots to sit and soak in the views.
The lagoon-style pool is absolutely stunning. It’s massive—one of the largest in Southeast Asia—and winds through the resort like a tropical river. We spent hours lounging poolside, and it never felt overcrowded. The pool also has a swim up bar and daily happy hour specials. I enjoyed a fresh young coconut in the pool.
The private beach was also a highlight. While the tide goes out during part of the day (making it more rocky in some areas), the views are still amazing, and the sunsets were magical. It’s also great for kayaking or just strolling along the shore.
Breakfast each morning was excellent. The buffet offered a wide range of both Western and Asian options—fresh fruit, pastries, eggs made to order and local Thai dishes. We appreciated the wide variety of juices and the beautiful open-air dining space overlooking the pool and gardens.
Lunch at the Crocodile Bar & Grill was relaxed, with the restaurant located right on the beach. I had a fresh mango smoothie and a Caesar salad, while for dinner, we enjoyed cocktails along with a burger and chips each.
The Thai Sala Bakery is open daily and is the perfect place for a fresh juice, a coffee or ice cream. It is located right next to the pool.
The resort also offers an unforgettable private dining experience right on the beach, perfect for a romantic evening or special celebration.
Throughout our stay, the staff were polite and helpful. Check-in was smooth, and we were given a welcome drink upon arrival. A special thank you to Mercedes who looked after us at the front desk.
Overall, Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a peaceful beachfront escape in Phuket.
The combination of beautiful natural surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and warm hospitality made our stay memorable. Whether you’re visiting with family, a partner, or even on a solo retreat, this resort offers an ideal setting to unwind, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of Thailand.

In a recent visit to Bali my husband and I had the privilege of staying at this unique, tranquil resort.
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene design and attention to detail. The bamboo-crafted architecture created a harmonious connection with the surrounding lush greenery.
The room was cosy and beautifully furnished with a luxurious bed draped in airy white curtains, providing a perfect balance of comfort and style. We were pleasantly surprised with a handwritten note on the bed, a thoughtful touch that made us feel so welcomed.
Waking up to the breathtaking view of the rice fields was an unforgettable experience.
The private pool overlooking the tropical landscape was another highlight. Relaxing there with the sound of the waterfall in the background felt like being in paradise.
The food was absolutely delicious and deserves special mention. Every meal was a treat for the senses, with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and authentic flavors. The attention to detail in the presentation and the warm service elevated the dining experience even further.
The service at the resort was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring every need was met with a smile. This stay felt like a blend of eco-conscious living and luxury.
We highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a tranquil and rejuvenating getaway with mouthwatering cuisine and heartfelt hospitality.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of spending a short stay at Kanvaz Village Resort in Bali.
We were personally welcomed by the General Manager and Marketing Manager on arrival which made us feel incredibly valued and set the tone for an unforgettable experience. Their warm hospitality was a clear reflection of the hotel’s dedication to guest satisfaction.
Our room was absolutely stunning – spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with all the comforts we could need. Our room had direct access to the pool, allowing us to step right out from our room into the waters.
The pool was a stunning highlight – a tranquil oasis surrounded by lush greenery, perfect for relaxing and unwinding.
The food was equally impressive; every dish we tried was filled with flavors that left us delighted and eager for more.
The buffet breakfast, in particular, was fabulous, offering an incredible variety of fresh and delicious options.
The staff at the restaurant and reception were absolutely outstanding. The restaurant team was attentive and friendly, always ensuring our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. Similarly, the reception staff went above and beyond, offering helpful recommendations and addressing our every need with efficiency and a warm smile.
The freshly baked pastries were a standout – light, flaky and divine, making breakfast a true indulgence each morning.

Last month my fiancé and I visited Bali for the first time and spent 3 blissful days relaxing at this modern, global award winning, five-star luxury lifestyle resort.
We arrived in the middle of the day to a very welcome refreshment and were kindly granted the opportunity to check in a bit earlier.
We were very pleased to arrive in our beautifully decorated, very smart room which was an Executive Suite on the ground level with direct access to a vast infinity lap pool, we also had the end unit which provided a bit of extra privacy.
The room was spacious with a work station, couch and table and a large walk-in dressing room. The bathroom was impressive too, with a large round bath that I indulged in every night; the shower was separate and the toilet, which was fully automated.
The mini bar station was well set up and the coffee machine with pods was easy to operate with plenty of fresh milk provided. We also received a very delicious chocolate and coconut welcome treat which thankfully I tasted before my fiancé swiftly tucked in 🙂
I was exhausted and finally taking a short break from some work deadlines and commitments, so for me comfort (and sleep) was key. Although the pillows were perfect for my other half, I requested a firmer option and for the first time in months I had the best night’s sleep without waking until morning.
On our first night we dined at the Chinese restaurant, Lion X. We were starving and not familiar with the menu, so started with a soup followed by Peking Duck with rice; while enjoying that we noticed a rather interesting dish being served at another table. We enquired and ordered the “Flying Noodles”. It was quite a spectacular presentation and totally delicious too.
Breakfast was served buffet style in the modern contemporary restaurant “Backstage”, it has an arty laid back atmosphere and we were very impressed with the many choices provided on display. On arrival we were offered coffee which was served at our table, one could also order items from the waiters if necessary. Although I was tempted by the diverse array of traditional Balinese cuisine on offer, I had to eat it with my eyes only because my Western trained palate always drew me to the chefs preparing eggs to order.
I enjoyed an omelette with mushrooms and spinach, grilled tomato, sausage and bacon. There was a vast selection of fruits, smoothies and yoghurts as well as cold meats, salad and every type of bread and pastry you can think of, even desserts! I wished I had a second stomach and right now just thinking about all that deliciousness is making my mouth water!
From the resort there are convenient complimentary hourly shuttles to the beach via a popular shopping area “Bali Collection”, where one can find souvenirs and Balinese as well as international fashion. We found these were very helpful to enable us to explore in the brief time we were there.
On our last night, after returning on the shuttle from a late afternoon of exploration and shopping, we decided to indulge in the option of relaxing in the room with room-service. The menu was full of variety and in my opinion, truly had something for everyone. We had vegetable spring rolls and Vietnamese rolls to start, followed by Nasi Goreng and Bebek Goreng, the portions were substantial, very good value and everything was a taste sensation that although I am sorry that I forgot to capture this divine food with images, I will always hope to enjoy those dishes again.
My fiancé, being on a mission to achieve 14,000 steps a day, in-between swimming laps in the infinity pool and walking all over the resort and even to the beach a couple of times, was extremely happy to enjoy some time each day in the very well-equipped gym. I went to visit the spa on our last day before our departure and while there he eagerly showed me around the gym, which is well laid out with the latest modern equipment; he even showed me that I could have a complimentary juice or smoothie, which was available from the fridge in the gym 🙂
Our first visit to Bali was merely a taste tease, and certainly a gem on the plate was the brief yet blissful time spent at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort.
We loved every bit of our stay and hope to return to experience more of the resort with its incredible dining venues and bars, and to explore more of Bali, next time it would need to be seven days, at least!

I had the pleasure of spending three nights at The Stratford Hotel, located in East London’s vibrant area of Stratford. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel’s contemporary design and welcoming atmosphere.
The Stratford Hotel is conveniently situated close to Stratford International Station, making it easy to reach central London and other areas. Another highlight is that the hotel is within short walking distance of Westfield Stratford City, which is my favourite shopping mall.
The check-in experience was efficient and pleasant. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist with any questions. They also upgraded us to a bigger room which was highly appreciated.
My room was located on the sixth floor and was spacious and thoughtfully designed, it felt both modern and comfortable. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided views of the city skyline and brought in plenty of natural light. The bathroom was stylish and featured a rainfall shower and luxury amenities.
The hotel offers a fully equipped gym with a variety of machines and ample open space for personal workouts.
Breakfast was served in the lobby restaurant and was buffet style. Additionally, there was a menu of hot and cold dishes that the chef could prepare fresh upon request. Every morning, I tried something different from the menu, I enjoyed the Shakshuka dish the most. The blueberry pancakes were also delicious.
Whether you’re in London for business or leisure, this hotel provides a chic, comfortable, and memorable stay. The friendly staff, modern design, and range of amenities make it a place I would highly recommend and would gladly return to for future visits.
