W Bali – Seminyak: A Vibrant Oasis in the Heart of Seminyak

During my recent stay in Bali, I spent three nights at the W Bali – Seminyak, staying in one of their Oasis One Bedroom Villas. From the moment we arrived, the property offered a unique energy – a perfect blend of high-style design and genuine, welcoming hospitality that makes this resort a standout escape in the center of Seminyak’s vibrant scene. The experience truly begins with the arrival itself. The entrance road into the resort is stunning; it feels as though you are entering a hidden jungle, with towering bamboo trees lining the path, instantly distancing you from the bustle of the city. We were welcomed with such warmth, and the experience was made even more exclusive with a separate, dedicated check-in area specifically for villa guests, ensuring a seamlessly private arrival. Waiting for us in the villa was a beautifully curated spread of fresh coconuts, a selection of delicious desserts, a bowl of fresh fruit, and a thoughtful, handwritten letter. It was an incredibly personalized touch that immediately made us feel at home.

Our Oasis One Bedroom Villa was a true Balinese villa experience. The design is sleek and modern, yet the space feels entirely private. The architectural layout maximizes the flow between the airy indoor living space and the outdoor area, where the private pool makes you feel like you are in a world of your own. It is an incredibly tranquil space during the afternoon, and the private pool is also absolutely perfect for a quiet night swim under the stars. The bedroom was another highlight – the bed was exceptionally large and comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep throughout our stay. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a spacious double vanity equipped with an extensive range of premium amenities. The attention to detail was evident from the start; we were pleasantly surprised to find the bathtub beautifully decorated with rose petals upon our arrival, which was a lovely, romantic gesture that set the tone for the entire stay.

What truly elevates the stay at W Bali – Seminyak is the staff. We were particularly touched by the service of our buggy driver, Andre. He was the sweetest man, always smiling and so chatty, making every trip across the resort grounds feel like a friendly catch-up. This level of care is reflected in the resort’s signature Whatever/Whenever® service, which was incredibly efficient; no request felt too small, and everything was handled with care and intuition.

The resort is designed to offer a complete lifestyle experience, and the dining is a massive part of that. Breakfast each morning was a definitive highlight of the day, offering the flexibility to dine at either FIRE or Starfish Bloo, each providing a distinctly different atmosphere. We found the breakfast experience at FIRE to feel wonderfully personal and interactive; upon entering, guests are invited to choose a personalized coffee mug from a display shelf, which the staff then uses to craft any coffee beverage of your choice. I highly recommend their coffee frappe, while my husband thoroughly enjoyed the vanilla latte. Alongside an extensive breakfast buffet, FIRE offers an à la carte menu of made-to-order hot dishes, from which I ordered the eggs benedict – a highly recommended choice.

Conversely, breakfast at Starfish Bloo was one of the most impressive buffets I have ever experienced. Set against beautiful outdoor seating that allows you to start your day with sweeping ocean views, the spread truly has everything one could wish for. Alongside a menu of made-to-order hot dishes and the ability to order any coffee you desire, the buffet features an incredible variety – from fresh sushi and local Balinese foods to homemade smoothies and pressed juices. During the day, the WET® pool, with its rice-field-inspired design, acts as a stunning centerpiece for the property. While soaking up the sun around the pool, I had a Mexican slushy cocktail that was absolutely delicious – the perfect, refreshing companion for a warm afternoon. If you are seeking a quieter moment to simply breathe and relax, the resort also features a beautiful “oasis” area – a serene, lushly landscaped sanctuary within the grounds that feels like a peaceful retreat away from the main hub of activity. In the evenings, Starfish Bloo became a fast favorite; the stunning sunsets viewed from the restaurant provided a breathtaking and unforgettable backdrop to end our days.

For those looking to recharge, the 24/7 AWAY® Spa provided a truly restorative environment. I treated myself to a traditional Balinese massage, and my therapist, Sherly, delivered an incredibly relaxing and expertly tailored treatment. The spa treatment room itself was strikingly designed, featuring a highly unique and modern treatment bed that visually elevated the entire experience. The wider spa facilities are equally incredible, offering an extensive wellness journey with hot and cold plunge pools, a sauna, a steam room, and even an oxygen chamber to fully reset the senses. Thoughtful details extend all the way into the changing rooms, which are fully equipped with premium hair heat styling tools, making it effortless to transition from a day of relaxation to an evening out.

One of the resort’s greatest assets is its location. We loved being within walking distance of Seminyak’s best shopping, restaurants, and local coffee shops. For those wanting to explore a bit further without the hassle of a car, the resort conveniently offers e-motorbikes for rent, providing an easy and fun option for guests to get around. W Bali – Seminyak is a fantastic choice for travelers looking for a stylish, vibrant getaway that doesn’t compromise on comfort or privacy. The combination of the beautiful Oasis One Bedroom Villa, the genuinely warm service from the staff, and the prime location makes it an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Bali. Our stay was rejuvenating, beautifully scenic, and perfectly balanced – a true sanctuary in the middle of Seminyak.

Alila Seminyak – A Sophisticated Beachfront Sanctuary on Bali’s Southwest Coast

During our recent visit to Bali, my husband and I spent a few nights at Alila Seminyak, staying in a spectacular Ocean View Suite. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortlessly sophisticated, with a calming atmosphere and attentive service – making Alila a standout beachfront retreat right in the heart of Seminyak’s vibrant scene.

The suite itself was beautifully designed with contemporary Balinese minimalism, offering a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living. Our private balcony quickly became the heart of our stay, providing the perfect setting to relax and take in the sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome display and a wonderful array of in-room treats, including a traditional Balinese sweet, fresh fruits, and dried mango, which immediately made us feel at home.

The room featured a beautifully appointed, spa-like bathroom complete with a luxurious bathtub and an incredibly extensive array of signature organic Alila Living bath products. We were pleasantly surprised to find everything we could possibly need already provided, from a shaving kit to thoughtful tropical essentials like insect repellent, after-sun care, and even sunscreen. The addition of an in-room espresso machine with premium coffee capsules was another small but wonderful touch. The sliding doors expertly blocked out the ambient sounds of the nearby beach clubs, ensuring our room was a peaceful, quiet escape.

The resort’s sleek, eco-friendly architecture and expansive oceanfront location add to its vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. What makes the grounds truly special, however, is the beautiful Balinese temple, dating back to 1980, preserved right at the heart of the resort, adding a wonderful touch of authentic culture and spiritual heritage to the modern design. Being right on the beach, we had front-row seats to Seminyak’s famous sunsets. There were multiple pools available across the property, but I loved the infinity pools – they offered the absolute best views of the ocean, visually melting right into the horizon. The adults-only Serene Pool was a particular favourite, providing a quiet, uninterrupted space to lounge and recharge. For lunch around the pool, we enjoyed calamari, popcorn chicken, and truffle fries – the perfect snack foods. The waiters around the pool were super friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed while we soaked up the sun.

Daily breakfast was served at Seasalt, the resort’s stunning oceanfront restaurant, offering the best of both worlds: a beautifully curated breakfast buffet alongside a menu of made-to-order hot dishes. My favourite was the avocado toast, which paired perfectly with their fresh-pressed juices. Another standout for me was their coconut iced latte made with a deliciously sweet pandan syrup—it became my go-to breakfast order every morning while the ocean breeze added a beautiful natural element to the start of our day.

Our evening dining experiences were just as impressive and wonderfully varied. One evening, we were treated to a taco night featuring a live cooking station with burger sliders and tacos – the birria tacos were an absolute standout and so delicious. The following night, perfectly matching our love for Asian flavor profiles, I had a phenomenal nasi goreng for my meal. We were also lucky enough to experience their spectacular Sunday brunch, made even better by our waitress, Krishna, who was incredibly nice and attentive. Across our dining experiences, Andi was another great waiter whose stellar service truly elevated our meals.

Alila Seminyak offers a fantastic schedule of daily activities, ensuring there is always something engaging to experience – which also makes the resort a good choice for families. Along with these activities, the resort provides complimentary bicycles and a local shuttle service, allowing easy access to nearby boutiques and attractions.

If you’re after some relaxation, Spa Alila is a little slice of heaven. We treated ourselves to a traditional Balinese massage, and my therapist, Putri, was incredibly sweet and made sure the experience was perfectly tailored and soothing. We also loved spending golden hour at the Beach Bar, where the coconut margarita quickly became my favourite cocktail – in fact, it was so good I drank it every single day!

The resort’s gift shop was also a highlight, stocking the best souvenirs to take home. It offered a wonderful selection of locally crafted keepsakes, making it incredibly easy to pick up thoughtful gifts for loved ones back home.

The service at Alila Seminyak was exceptional and genuinely attentive. The staff always went out of their way to ensure our comfort, remembering our preferences and providing great local recommendations. The housekeeping staff left a lasting impression with their thoughtful touches, leaving us a lovely handwritten note wishing us a nice day alongside a towel beautifully folded into a flower.

Alila Seminyak is a perfect pick for travellers looking for a stylish, luxury-focused getaway that combines beachfront vibrancy with exceptional comfort and sustainability.

Our stay at Alila Seminyak was rejuvenating, beautifully scenic, and perfectly balanced, and it’s a property I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a modern, sophisticated retreat in Bali.

Wow! A beyond-5-star experience at Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort’s transformational wellness retreat

In late October, my fiancé and I were graciously hosted for a few days at Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort and experienced their exceptional wellness retreat with some Glowing Flow sessions. The resort is operated and owned by the Ladurner family who have a proud heritage of farming organic apples in the region. The owners are very hands on, and were often visible in various areas overseeing operations during the course of the day – a testament to the level of service and attention to detail – always surpassing expectations.

We had a warm welcome on arrival, with a swift check-in whilst taking in the vibrant decor of the reception area, and were very well looked after with our car being parked for us and our luggage brought directly up to our room.

The resort is nestled on the slopes above the Italian village of Naturno in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. This magnificent location is famed for receiving the most year-round sunshine in the region, we enjoyed perfectly mild Autumn weather and were comfortably able to enjoy swimming in the outdoor heated pools. Close to the Austrian border, it blends the best of German and Italian cultures and is surrounded by majestic mountains that create an atmosphere of pure serenity.

Our stay included some wonderful healing retreat treatments, the first of which was a Sound Healing session, perfect to set the tone of connecting to your inner calm and embrace some time with yourself to indulge in relaxation. The sounds carried us in and out of a drifting state of semi-sleep, which afterwards leaves you feeling completely rejuvenated. Soon after that, I was blessed to meet Stefano Battaglia internationally renowned holistic Master specialized in trauma healing, for a “Glowing Flow” session. The time spent with him was a groundbreaking experience for me, something that has encouraged me to start a new journey of finding more joy in life, and with that, inner peace.

In the morning on our second day we were pampered by a couples “Happy Massage” in a scenic room out on the rooftop garden. Later on I received the most incredible facial, I was so impressed with the results that I wanted to purchase the Face Mask—one of the exclusive products formulated and created especially for the Preidlhof Spa. I was also privileged to visit the Med Spa and meet Dr. Alexander Angerer, who in a short assessment managed to offer some excellent remedies for stress and sleep deprivation which I am duly implementing and am happy to report that it is definitely helping.

Our dinner and breakfast meals were served in the comfortable Spa VIP area at a table reserved for the duration of our stay. Breakfast and dinner had à la carte menus, and were also accompanied by choices from the expansive buffet. Since we took a later start on our days we didn’t quite have the space to fit in the sumptuous lunch buffet!

The breakfast buffet was by far the best I have ever experienced, with a full selection of breads and rolls, croissants, real fresh honeycomb, cereals, yogurts, bircher meusli, all types of cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon, fresh fruits, a juicer, and even different types of butter. The chefs were at hand to serve up eggs whichever way you preferred with sides of other hot items, such as our favourite which was their perfect crispy bacon.

The dinner menu was very flexible by offering 2 set menus as well as a variety of traditional main courses which could all be enjoyed and interchanged per your preference. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and oh so tasty, in short, all the food was just fantastic!

Our waiter, Peter was very friendly with a keen sense of humour and great attention to detail, he made our short stay even more memorable by chatting with us here and there between taking care of his other guests. On our second evening, a musician was playing in the bar, so we settled onto a comfy couch in a cozy nook meant for relaxing or playing board games with friends. We enjoyed a drink and soaked in the warm atmosphere.

Another highlight of our stay was the time spent enjoying the saunas and bathing areas. We indulged in the smorgasbord of options for an entire afternoon. We tried all the fabulous saunas (from as hot as 90 degrees); there was a sunset sauna, an event sauna – both offering stunning mountain view’s, an olive sauna, a wine sauna, a steam room, a snow room, an icy plunge pool, jacuzzi, heated infinity pools, fabulous shower rooms and even a musical light relaxation room, all were simply marvellous fun!

Everything was nothing short of perfect, except knowing that we had to leave far too soon! The setting, the food, the spa, the activities available were all next-level awesome. Activities available include yoga sessions, fitness classes and even aqua gym. On top of that, the hiking and mountain biking trails are a big attraction in the area – these appealed especially to my super-fit running and biking fiancé, due to an injury he could not take advantage this time. He’s already determined to return when he can explore those trails properly—and make the most of the gym. The gym’s fabulous setting, with its panoramic views, sits right beside the beautiful main outdoor pool which even has a direct indoor entrance.

There are 5 star resorts and then there is Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort, a destination beyond 5 stars. Collectively both my fiancé and I have travelled extensively, and this is by far the best experience we have ever had, quite simply it exceeded all expectations.

Thank you to Patrizia, Wellness Designer, for showing us around, and for being so thoughtful with organising the perfect treatments for us; thank you to the warm and welcoming spa managers, Alessandra and Sabrina, a very special thank you to Carmine for organising everything from the start, and for that huge smile always exuding happiness.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Ladurner family for creating such a special place to relax, re-connect and take an incredible well-being journey whilst enjoying the finer things in life.

Pondoro Game Lodge – A luxury bush holiday with excellent hospitality

Pondoro Game Lodge is set on the banks of the Olifants River in Balule Private Game Reserve inside the greater Kruger National Park.

The lodge is family-owned by Lize and Robbie and offers only 8 rooms, ensuring exclusivity and personalized service for every guest.

They provide exceptional service, delicious food, and breathtaking natural surroundings. It Is the best way to experience the African bush.

The lodge really felt intimate, and the staff made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. The staff had genuine smiles that lit up the whole room.

I stayed in the “Buffalo” Suite, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The suite had a thatched roof, beautiful décor, and best of all, sweeping views of the Olifant’s River and surrounding wild. The owners perfectly blended African furnishings and modern amenities to create a comfortable and memorable stay.

The suite did not have any fencing, so you are completely in nature. We were offered handmade bracelets as a welcome gift, they were made by their housekeeper Sindile (what a sweet touch). We were also gifted a lovely bottle of red wine upon arrival. The suite was spacious, and the king bed had the perfect view. The bathroom had a big open shower and a bathtub which also boasted views of the outdoors. On the outside deck there was a shower, and the main feature, the rock bathtub overlooking the river.

The deck was the perfect place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature. Every day I saw elephants bathing in the river, and monkeys swinging from the trees. The hippos also made sure I knew they were there with their loud noises coming from the river.

The meals were brilliant, offering international cuisine with a South African touch. The lodge’s extensive wine list has won international awards, and their staff will recommend the best wines for each meal. I particularly liked the Stellenzicht Shiraz.

For breakfast each morning, I had their signature iced coffee, some seasonal fruit and the eggs benedict. The breakfast is a la carte and has a great variety of hot and cold dishes.

For lunch they offered a set menu which changed daily, and in addition to that, they offered a ‘high tea’ station with drinks and snacks to enjoy after the main lunch meal.

For our first night we had dinner on the riverbank, with sounds of hippos in the background. It was quite a scary experience, but the staff made it so much fun. They performed an African dance and sang a few songs for us to start the evening. The ostrich fillet was tasty and of course it was paired with a lovely Pinotage wine.

My favourite meal was our last dinner which was a beef fillet steak with a to-die-for mustard sauce. Another special meal was the venison potjie which was served in such a unique way and tasted fantastic. The intimate setting of the dining area added to the overall charm of the lodge.

The staff went over and above for my partner’s 30th birthday. They provided a special dinner table decorated with balloons and baked him a delicious chocolate cake.

A special thank you to Yvonne and Patricia for your generous hospitality, and Percy in the kitchen for the wonderful food that you prepared for us.

The romantic picnic at their treehouse hide was one of the highlights of our trip. The staff arranged a picnic lunch on the day of my partner’s birthday. Our guide drove us to this unique spot, which overlooked a watering hole, and we were left on our own to enjoy our special meal. A herd of elephants were enjoying the dam water to cool off on the hot summer day. The picnic feast was truly delightful.

The lodge offered daily morning and evening game drives with their experienced and passionate tracker and guide. On each drive we saw something different. We saw a pride of roaring lions which was thrilling. The best sighting was watching a leopard and its two cubs. The female leopard was eating its recent kill, and the babies were playing nearby under a tree. We watched them for hours, it was fascinating. We also saw a black rhino which is very rare. During our 3-night stay, we saw the entire Big Five, some Hyenas and Wild Dogs, and of course many Giraffes and Zebras. Every game drive offered a chance to witness the incredible diversity of South Africa’s wildlife.

Rul the guide and Shedrick the tracker are super knowledgeable and I thank them for giving us the best authentic safari experience.

The lodge has an in-house spa offering massage treatments to rejuvenate you after a morning game drive. You can also take a dip in their infinity pool which is tucked in between trees and surrounded by sounds of birds. You also could participate in a guided bush walk nearby the lodge if you are interested in tracking animals and gaining information from the experienced tracker.

I would recommend this lodge for a honeymoon, a romantic getaway or anyone wanting to experience a luxury safari.

My stay was nothing short of remarkable, offering an unparalleled safari experience that exceeded all expectations.

The Kuta Beach Heritage Hotel Bali Managed by Accor

A Boutique hotel located on the beachfront of the famous Kuta Beach

The Kuta Beach Heritage Hotel is conveniently situated right by Kuta Beach, a 5-minute stroll from Kuta Square and the Kuta Art Market. The hotel blends contemporary design with fishing village-themed interiors and is the ideal destination for business and leisure travelers.

The hotel has a prime location and is a 5-minute walk from the Kuta Beachwalk shopping center which has great outlets and dining options. The airport is about a 15-minute car ride from the hotel. Right next to the hotel entrance is a convenience store, wine shop and transportation services.

From the hotel, you can go for a leisurely stroll on the beach and take in the beautiful sea views. Kuta beach is known for surfing, so I would recommend doing a surfing lesson during your stay.

My spacious room had a full view of the Kuta Beach and the bustling street below.

Many of the rooms have an ocean view and balcony, and some have direct pool access to a plunge pool.

My room was spacious and had a separate living area and study with a flat-screen TV, minibar and a balcony overlooking Kuta Beach. They also provided complimentary coffee and tea in the room daily. In-room dining is available 24 hours a day and the menu features international classics as well as local Indonesian dishes to try.

The bathroom had a luxurious bathtub and they offered bath salts as an extra amenity. The shower and toilet were private, and the double vanity featured quality amenities such as body lotion, scented hand soap and more.

The hotel also provides luggage storage in case you have a late flight and still want to explore Kuta. If you haven’t already booked sightseeing tours online, the hotel has a tour desk who can assist you with making bookings. I would absolutely recommend doing the Ubud full day tour.

The hotel’s rooftop infinity pool is the highlight of the hotel and is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Spend your day around the pool on one of the comfortable lounge chairs and relax with music playing in the background. The pool also has a bar with a variety of cocktails, you should definitely try a whole coconut.

The hotel features a spa, and I would like to mention that they offer a Traditional Balinese massage which is a must-do when in Bali. For fitness lovers, the hotel has a fully equipped gym.

Riva Bar & Restaurant has breathtaking ocean views and offers international cuisine as well as some local dishes. This is also a great spot for sunset.

The buffet breakfast is amazing, as you enter the breakfast area there are two Balinese performers playing a special instrument to add to the ambience of the hotel. The buffet offers a variety of food, including a vegetarian section, Indonesian section, sushi station and a made-to-order egg station.

The set up included traditional Balinese dishes and the staff were at your service and happy to explain the dishes to you. They also have a station that serves special juice that has Indonesian spices and herbs in, which is worth a try. Don’t forget to try their freshly made French toast with chocolate sauce. The perfect way to start your day in Bali.

The staff welcomed me with a smile every morning and made sure I was comfortable. You can also sit on one of the lounge chairs around the pool with a coffee and enjoy the view of Kuta Beach.

The staff members are highly attentive and sincerely dedicated to ensuring your experience is exceptional. Whether it’s the buffet staff, security personnel, receptionists, or cleaning services, everyone is always eager to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs.

Villa Samuan

A contemporary private villa located in Seminyak, Bali.

This villa is the ultimate luxury accommodation for families or a group of friends, with a total of 5 bedrooms. The villa can also be split into a 3-bedroom and a 2-bedroom which can be booked separately. Each has its own private swimming pool, indoor and outdoor living area, kitchenette, and private gardens.

Villa Samuan is within walking distance of the popular Seminyak beaches, local shops, craft markets and a variety of restaurants. The area is safe and peaceful, a haven for travelers.

Upon arrival I felt completely at home, the staff were friendly and courteous.

I spent three nights in the 2-bedroom “Villa Kalih” which is fully serviced and offers in-room massages, full breakfast, complimentary coffee and tea, a private driver and ultra-fast Wi-Fi.

The villa staff are available 24 hours a day and are happy to attend to your every need. The lavender scented hand soap and shower amenities smelled like a dream and the bathtub is perfect for an afternoon soak. They also offer mosquito spray in the rooms and outside, which is definitely useful at night.

The villa has beautiful architecture, and a warm ambience, the ideal luxury private retreat. Around the pool you are surrounded by coconut trees and lush tropical gardens. Inside you have striking furniture, stunning art pieces and luxury amenities. It has stylish touches around every corner. The Villa is elegantly designed, and the king-size bed offers a comfortable night’s sleep.

Komang, the villa manager, has excellent commitment to service. Everything I needed, him and his team supplied. The fantastic staff provided exceptional service, making my stay unforgettable. The Balinese hospitality is so comforting, and they ensured my stay was carefree.

The daily breakfast was delicious, and they make the best cappuccinos. For breakfast, you can choose from a selection of meals such as Indonesian breakfast or full breakfast. You can have fresh juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, and I opted for the smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs. I had this dish every morning as it was so tasty.

Nearby attractions that I would recommend are KU DE TA, a beach club and restaurant that is an outstanding place for sunset drinks. For shopping I would recommend The Flea Market, and you can walk along that road to find multiple different cafes and shopping experiences. I would also recommend Luc. Coffee Roasters, a great café for lunch or a coffee in between shopping. These places are all within walking distance of the villa.

Villa Samuan stands out from the plethora of private villas in the vicinity due to its distinct architectural design and exceptionally fashionable interior decor. The villa harmoniously blends traditional Balinese elements with contemporary aesthetics, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind ambiance.

Thank you Komang and your wonderful team for being efficient, friendly, and treating me like royalty.

I would recommend Villa Samuan as one of the best luxury villas in Seminyak. Top class hospitality and exceptional service.

Crown Towers Sydney – an incredible, unforgettable experience of comfort, style and true luxury on every level

On a recent trip to Australia, I stopped over in Sydney and had the absolute pleasure of spending a few nights at the Crown Towers, Sydney. Having travelled to every continent and stayed in numerous luxury hotels, I can honestly say that this is the most incredible hotel I have ever experienced.

I was booked into a Studio room with extensive, fabulous views of the harbor. To give an idea of just on how “state-of-the-art” everything was, the bathroom even had an electric toilet!

The breakfast was fit for royalty, a feast for the eyes, catering for all palates with every conceivable type of food.

My sister, who lives in Australia came to visit me at the hotel for the day, she was blown away by the magnificence of the hotel. We spent a few hours relaxing at the infinity pool with spectacular views of the harbour and Sydney skyline. My sister was very happy to be right in the pool on a perfectly situated comfortable pool bed.

Unfortunately I did not have time to use the spa myself, but my sister went for a treatment, after which she could not stop commenting on how wonderful it was and complimenting the therapist on how good they made her feel. I did take a look around the spa and was very impressed with the ambience, and the warm and welcoming staff that were keen to show us around.

I try to work out almost every day, so naturally I went to try out the gym which was fantastic and equally impressive to my room with all the latest equipment, as well as great views of the Sydney Harbour as a perfect distraction to a heavy workout – much needed after enjoying rather a few good meals on my trip.

Whilst there, being so impressed, I took a moment to read a few reviews of the hotel and one that stood out to me said, that if it was possible to achieve 6 stars, this hotel certainly deserves it, and I can wholeheartedly agree!

Thank you to the General Manager, Mr. Chris Kemlo, for his kind hospitality, the attention to detail is impeccable and I extend my appreciation to all the teams working in the hotel for the excellent service I experienced.

The Racha – An eco-luxury resort on the island of Racha Yai, Thailand

The Racha is located on Racha Yai island which is about a 30-minute speedboat ride from Chalong Pier in Phuket. The island has the most beautiful natural scenery and breathtaking sunsets, it is also a well-known spot for diving and snorkeling.

The meeting point is at The Racha Chalong Lounge at Chalong Pier which is about an hour’s drive from the Phuket International Airport. At the lounge, they offer Wi-Fi as well as complimentary snacks and drinks. It is advised to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled boat trip.

Upon arrival at the lounge, we were offered a choice of different scents for our room on the island.

We decided upon lemongrass as the staff explained that is repels mosquitos, as well as having a natural tropical smell.

We took a shuttle bus from the lounge directly to the boat and the staff assisted with our luggage. The speedboat ride was a fun experience, and the weather was perfect.

Upon arriving at The Racha, you are welcomed by crystal blue water and powdery white sands.

We were escorted to the welcome area at the resort and offered a scented cold towel and a special purple drink. The front office staff assisted us to our room and explained the services and facilities on the way.

We checked into a Grand Deluxe Villa for three nights, and it was just what we needed. A comfortable bed, indoor and outdoor showers, bathtub, luxurious amenities, and a terrace with sea views.

We arrived at the resort around 2pm in the afternoon, so we headed to the pool for lunch and a dip.

The adults-only infinity pool is the heart of the resort, it has the best view of the island and is the perfect place for a day of relaxing and sun tanning.

There are complimentary water bottles available around the pool and you can order drinks and food during the day.

The beach is another option for relaxing and sunbathing, there are lounger chairs and hammocks on the grass in front of the resort and beach towels available. The palm trees all around the resort make it such a relaxing atmosphere. The weather was perfect and every day we swam in the ocean and the pools.

The resort has a very laid-back ambience and is a great option for couples and even families who just want to relax.

There are numerous activities available on the island, including complimentary watersports such as kayak and snorkeling. This island offers some of the best snorkeling and diving spots in Phuket. I would encourage everyone to try the water sports, the staff are knowledgeable and will assist with everything.

You can also explore the island by foot, there are a few beaches a short distance away from the main beach, which is more secluded. The reception will give you a map and are happy to help with directions.

They also offer chargeable activities such as island hopping, sunset cruises, ATV’s and guided hikes, which can all be booked via their mobile app. You can also ask any questions via the live chat on their app which is really convenient.

The resort also has a PADI certified diving center for those interested in learning to dive.

For those just wanting to relax, you can opt for a treatment at the Anumba Spa. The Spa also offers daily complimentary yoga sessions, which is also suitable for beginners. I would definitely recommend anyone to try yoga, the instructor is so friendly and its just a fun experience to try something new.

Sunsets at The Racha are magical. Six thirty until seven thirty at night is the best time of day for me. We made sure to book the best table at the restaurant which has a perfect view of the ocean and the sunset. Enjoy a fresh coconut or a cocktail as the sun sets.

The main restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside all three nights because of the stunning views. Just ensure you spray mosquito repellant when sitting outside at night.

The restaurant menu is extensive, they offer international favorites as well as Thai specialties. I suggest you try a Thai dish at least once, for example the Pineapple fried rice, such a flavorful dish. I also had the mango Crème Brûlée which was 10/10.

If you are on a romantic holiday, you can book the private dining area which is set up right in front of the resort with unobstructed views of the bay.

The breakfast buffet has a great variety including an egg station where the chefs prepare eggs benedict or omelettes for you. They also offered complimentary sparking wine at breakfast for those wanting to make a mimosa.

The resort also has a gelato shop which is open during the day and is the perfect place for an afternoon scoop to cool down. Next to the resort entrance, there are a few small local stores which sell all kinds of snacks, and even swimwear and accessories.

I had a wonderful holiday, there is so much to do on the island, but it also is just so relaxing to do nothing if you want.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the whole team delivered beyond my expectation.

Overall, I had a fabulous time at The Racha, thank you to all the staff who made my stay memorable, I will be back in a heartbeat.
