Berjaya Langkawi Resort – Tropical Luxury Island Getaway

Berjaya Langkawi Resort is the place to go for absolute relaxation in a stunning location.

The resort spans over 80 acres and is set in a tropical rainforest that is surrounded by fauna and flora.

We arrived via taxi and were greeted by the hotel’s friendly staff. We were offered their special blue butterfly tea whilst completing the check in process. The guest services manager gave me the resort map and explained all the services and facilities.

Thereafter we were assisted to our premier suite on water which boasts spectacular views of the ocean.

This suite on stilts is a dream, the spacious room opens up to a balcony with uninterrupted views, and the highlight of the room is the jacuzzi bath which is where I spent a lot of time unwinding. The picturesque view from our room and jacuzzi was breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset.

All the rooms include a complimentary mini bar which is refilled every day, free of charge. This is a lovely extra offered by the resort.

The resort offers a 24-hour complimentary shuttle service, all you need to do is give them a call and they’ll be at your door within 5-10 minutes.

Once we were settled into the room, it was time to explore the many sites and activities the resort has to offer. The wildlife is remarkable and truly unique to the property. We came across various different animals on our way to the beach, including a rather large monitor lizard.

Berjaya Langkawi Resort is one of the few places where the Dusky leaf monkey is prominent. You can easily spot them hanging from the trees or even at the beach. They are easily identifiable with their giant white eyes and are absolutely adorable. Their resident guest friendly monkey, Johnny, can often be found at the shuttle service counter by reception, waiting for any guests willing to give him a back rub. This made my stay even more special as I love monkeys.

The resort’s pool area is the perfect place to spend your day relaxing and sunbathing. There is a main pool with a magnificent waterfall feature, a smaller pool, and plenty of sun loungers. You can either choose a lounger that has a beach view, or one with a mountain view, all surrounded by palm trees and lush greenery.

They have a sunken pool bar where you can order fresh juices and snacks and escape from the sun. There are many submerged seats surrounding the bar, so guests can enjoy their refreshments without having to leave the pool.

Guests are offered complimentary fresh watermelon slices as they lay around the pool. This was a special touch, especially in the blazing midday sun.

The resort’s secluded beach is very well maintained and has flawless sunset views. There are multiple sun loungers on the beach with shaded huts, a beach bar, and an all-day dining restaurant overlooking the beach. Over weekends, the resort offers a night-time fire show on the beach, the ideal after-dinner activity.

I would say this resort is great for families, as well as for a couple’s holiday. There are numerous activities and excursions on offer that cater to all ages. These include in-house as well as off-site activities and excursions, all of which can be arranged by the incredibly helpful activities desk found in the main lobby.

I would greatly recommend doing the jet ski island tour. It was such an enthralling and rare experience. It is a group tour with a guide that takes you to 7 different islands around Langkawi Island. On the islands you are able to watch eagles feeding, swim in a freshwater lake as well as take in the postcard-like views.

For those seeking the ultimate relaxation, a visit to Taaras Spa is highly recommended. It is a private sanctuary tucked away within their lush rainforest and features an outdoor massage area.

The housekeeping staff were tremendous and added special touches to the room every night at turndown. The staff also ran a bubble bath for us every night, which I loved. Overlooking the calm ocean waters while the local fisherman lit the sky green with the lights from their boats. The housekeeping made a great impact on my stay and elevated the entire experience.

Breakfast at Berjaya can be enjoyed at their Dayang Café, the Beach Brasserie, in-room dining, or even a beach picnic. The Breakfast buffet at Dayang Café was amazing and awakened all my senses to start the day. They offered a great variety of food with superb flavors and had the friendliest waiters. There were different cooking stations, the most popular being their ‘Roti Canai’ station which serves a special Malay breakfast dish, freshly prepared with your choice of filling.

My partner and I decided to do the sunken beach dinner as a special romantic evening. This is one of three different unique dinner packages offered at the resort’s beach. I can’t recommend the sunken beach dinner highly enough.

From organizing the dinner to the shuttle back to our room, it was effortless. The experience was everything advertised and more.

The staff dug up a table and chairs in the sand with a lantern lit pathway guiding your every step. The table was set with a silk tablecloth and the chairs (which resembled more of a couch) were placed with cushions which made it extremely comfortable. They also went over and above adding special decorations and lights to the setup. The sunset was gorgeous and made the setting magical.

The staff are at your every need with a smile on their faces and ensure that your privacy is top priority throughout the evening.

The seven-course fine dining meal was cooked to perfection and the dishes were brought out timeously. The chef also came out to introduce himself after our meal, making the dinner memorable.

The resort also has a popular Thai Restaurant, which is built on stilts over the ocean water and has the best sunset view on offer at the resort. It offers a unique open-air dining experience with authentic gourmet Thai cuisine.

The entire resort is extraordinary, from the scenery to the attentive staff.

I had such a memorable stay, thank you to the Berjaya staff who went over and above to make my stay special.

I would highly recommend this resort if you are planning a trip to Langkawi Island.
