Iconic Resort Earns Two Spots In Guinness World Records


Port Dickson, 14 March 2017 –  Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson is now the official proud record holder of Guinness World Records for achieving “The most swimming pools in a resort at 643” and “The most overwater villas in single resort at 522”. These records were determined by a research which was verified on 14 October 2016.

In a ceremony witnessed by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin representing Tourism and Culture Minister YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri b Abdul Aziz and amongst other high-profile guests, the event saw Mr Swapnil Dangarikar, representative from Guinness World Records handing over the two plaques to YBhg Dato’ Low Tak Fatt, managing director of Kuala Lumpur Metro Group, owner of Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson and Ms Mandy Chew Siok Cheng, President of Lexis Hotel Group, the operator of Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson.

In reading the minister’s speech, YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati said it was a proud achievement for the country to have obtained the accolades from a prestigious institution, known for its documentation of record-breaking feats.

“A rather lengthy process had to take place whereby an accredited consultant had to be engaged to study the attempt and comparison made with other such similar developments around the world. Not many people can boast of such achievements and I, therefore, encourage more Malaysians, whether as individuals or corporate companies, to emulate Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. This will definitely help to put Malaysia in a positive spotlight and at par with the rest of the world.”

The triumphs by Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson further strengthens its commitment to promoting tourism in Port Dickson, which continues to see increased demand for luxurious accommodation from discerning travellers, covering business and leisure segments from both local and overseas. With plenty of job opportunities being offered to the locals, the resort has contributed positively towards the Malaysia tourism industry. 2016 World Luxury Hotel Awards Winners Announced

On 29th October 2016, the World Luxury Hotel Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary in awarding the world’s finest hotels for their luxury offerings and exceptional service delivery.

Hosted on this auspicious occasion by the exquisite St. Regis Doha in Qatar, the evening saw over 350 guests from the world’s leading hotels and resorts gather to be recognised on stage for their outstanding efforts.

The evening itself was one of true celebration. Participants from over 50 countries arrived to a grand red carpet welcome and were dazzled during the evening.

Dining was to perfection, with a chic, decadent 6- course meal prepared to order, each course elegantly plated and paired with fine wine. Guests savoured their meals while being entertained with live, toe-tapping jazz music, performed throughout the evening. Awards were presented to luxury hotels and resorts in over 60 categories.

The Armani Hotel Dubai was announced as Overall Winner of the 2016 World Luxury Hotel Awards.

World Luxury Hotel Awards Launches Brand New Website

With 2016 heralding the 10th Anniversary of World Luxury Hotel Awards, exciting upgrades have been in development to further enhance how hotels and visitors interact.

If you haven’t heard the news yet, World Luxury Hotel Awards recently launched a brand new state-of-the-art website which includes many exciting features for participants and visitors alike.

The new site offers many new and intuitively integrated features, utilising the most advanced web design technologies available today, to enhance the way the best luxury hotels in the world, connect with travellers, patrons and each other.

Participating hotels will receive full access to their profiles through our new Profile Management Facility. Every nominated and registered participant will receive their unique profile, accessible on our website by logging in with a unique username and password. Once logged in, the hotel can upload and update photographs, indicate and update the facilities they offer, add extra information about particular services that they would like to emphasise, pin real-time social media feeds to their profile page and much more! Participants will also have access to a variety of downloadable marketing and support resources from our “Resource Centre”.

Each participant will be hosted on our website and will receive its own, beautifully designed profile page.

The page features large images that scroll behind the page as you browse, live social media feeds for that hotel, a visual representation of location using Google Maps, all the contact information for the hotel as well as a direct mailing facility for a visitor to make inquiries directly to the mailbox designated by the hotel. Each profile has a unique link that can be shared online and will take visitors straight to the profile of the participating hotel.

Visitors can vote for a hotel, directly from their profiles, from the home page or by clicking on a shared link.

Since the official launch of the new website on the 17th of June 2016, we have recorded 129% traffic growth from all over the globe from 64 016 sessions (17-May-2015 – 17-Jun-2015) to 146 929 sessions (17-Jun-2016 – 17-Jul-2016).

Experiencing the WTM Africa 2016

The World Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards team attended the highly successful WTM Africa earlier this year at the CTICC in Cape Town – not surprisingly one of the most loved cities in the world.


A perfect venue in which to facilitate a meeting and collaborative space for leaders and trend setters in our dynamic hospitality industry. We were impressed by the quality of the exhibition stands, and the level of excellence taken in representing their properties, spa’s and tourism related services. Although the show was created for the African segment of the market, a number of far reaching internationals were exhibiting, testament to the significance of a growing and energized trade culture.

A key highlight for our team included meeting the faces behind our participating hotels, lodges and spa’s which offered a great opportunity in solidifying important business to business relationships.

Naturally, we connected and networked with many new establishments and provided insight into the specialized hospitality awards market. We also gained incredible knowledge from attending many of the live conference events which saw global industry leaders sharing their expertise and travel forecasts. The WTM Africa travel and tourism event has entrenched itself as the leading global marketplace for businesses across the industry. It is an optimal opportunity to engage in value-driven conversations in a diverse range of South African, Sub-Saharan African and Internationally represented hospitality entities. 2015 World Luxury Hotel Awards Winners Announced

Harbour Grand, Hong Kong: The 9th Annual World Luxury Hotel Awards was hosted at the prestigious Harbour Grand Hong Kong on Saturday 24th October 2015. The event was hosted by international television presenter, Desmond So. Over 300 attendees represented their hotels to receive their awards at this red carpet, black tie event. The phenomenal success of this event echoes in the praise of the attendees who, not only celebrated their accomplishments and received their awards on a beautiful stage, but also enjoyed stellar presentation, a delectable 6 course fine dining experience and sensational cultural performances in the extravagant and glamourous Grand Ballroom at the Harbour Grand Hong Kong.

The event was attended by founder and chairman of the World Luxury Hotel Awards, Mr. Brandon Lourens, as well as Mr. Anthony Lau, Executive Director of Hong Kong Tourism.

200 winners, in over 50 categories received their awards at the event. Winning a World Luxury Hotel Award provides hotels with recognition for their world class facilities and service excellence provided to guests. The awards are presented to luxury hotels in different categories on a country, continent and global basis. The Overall Winner Award was presented by Mr Brandon Lourens, founder and chairman of the World Luxury Hotel Awards, as well as Ms. Odile Franc, Director of Distribution and Development, France 24. Hotel Plaza Athénée received this award for achieving the highest honour in international hoteliering.

The 2015 awards season saw the introduction of the Chairman’s Award which is awarded to hotel management companies that have achieved the respect of their peers in the travel industry whilst having earned the trust of guests and travel coordinators alike. The first ever Chairman’s Award was awarded to LUX* Hotels and Resorts, Mauritius. The World Luxury Spa Awards Overall Winner was also announced and the winner received their award along with the other global winners.
